Rebuilding is similar to restoration work but different in one major area. Most likely, the instrument has been neglected for many years, and/ or damaged in a particular way, that will require this type of work to be done. In rebuilding, usually the deterioration of certain components will require the replacement of these components, such as sounding-boards, pin- blocks, or bridgework. These are major repairs. A great deal of funding is required to complete these tasks. Many of the older pianos are not worth the effort, unless there is an attachment to them of some significance. It is important here to have your instrument appraised, previous to the commencement of any of this type of work. To discuss rebuilding, please email or call to speak with a technician. |
